When I was in Rome this past February I stayed at the Motherhouse of the Christian Brothers, our founding religious order. In one of the hallways there are portraits of the 27 superior generals, the successors to the founder of the order, St. John Baptist de la Salle. Yesterday the brothers elected a new superior general, an American named Bro. Robert Schieler, FSC. He succeeds Bro. Alvaro Rodriguez, FSC, a Costa Rican, who served for two terms.
Bro. Robert is a native of Philadelphia and has been working for the order in Washington, DC. Ad Multos Annos!
