New Horizons Tour

One of our goals this year is to take students on tours of the various organizations we assist throughout the year.  Last week I took a group of students to the New Hampshire Food Bank as we are helping them with a canned food drive this month.  Today Mrs. Capobianco P'15 and I took some students to New Horizons here in Manchester as they will be the main beneficiary of our Cardboard City event (which is October 13/14 this year).

New Horizons does a number of things: a soup kitchen, a shelter, a food pantry, and a medical clinic.  They also do a lot of work trying to help their clients get back on their feet by providing case workers, assistance setting up savings accounts, etc.  Charlie Sherman, the former Sports anchor on Channel 9, is the Executive Director and gave us a great tour of the facility.  Ideally the students will be inspired to be a part of Cardboard City, volunteer at New Horizons, spread the word about the work being done there, etc.

The students who joined us today were:

Megan Barker '14
Madison Blakeman '13
Nick Capobianco '15
Lauren DeJoe '16
Jason Dufour '16
Shawn Dunphey '14
Rick Kfoury '14
