With our food drive complete, it's time for our October event: Cardboard City. Cardboard City is held on the weekend after Columbus Day and is a chance for our students to raise money and awareness of homelessness. They are each asked to raise at least $35 and the proceeds go to New Horizons here in Manchester. The students will then sleep outdoors on our front lawn in cardboard boxes on Oct. 19/20 and experience homelessness for a night. Last year they raised over $7,300, 100% of which went to New Horizons!
I put sign-up sheets out on Monday and already close to 125 students, about 30% of our student body, has signed up to take part.
It's on.
