What she would have said

Unfortunately Gov. Lynch was unable to be with us again today.  I had asked Kasie Bourque '14 to say a few words at the assembly which are below.  I didn't want them to go to waste so here they are:

"Mom, I'm hungry." this phrase is so often spoken and with no consideration to what hunger is. Lucky for us, we, students at Trinity High School, always have food in the house. We have never experienced hunger. This is something we all take for granted. Food. A basic necessity that we don't think Twice about. It's hard to believe that there are people out there who don't even know when they'll eat again.

The most overlooked group of people are the hungry ones. We may pass by people on the street and not even realize that they haven't eaten in three days. The worst part is they are right in front of us and we don't even realize it. it's time to open our eyes and help these people

There are endless opportunities here at Trinity to assist the hungry.  Some are in our backyard like Kids Cafe and New Horizons in Manchester and others are further from home like St. Francis Inn, a soup kitchen in Philadelphia.

Donating canned food to Trinity's annual food drive is another big step to ending the injustice that is hunger. But you and I cant do it alone. Get your friends and grandma to help and your Uncle George too. The end of hunger won't happen overnight, maybe not even in our lifetimes, but we will have made a difference.

Jesus says to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Would you let yourself go hungry?
