Pioneers of Action

With November upon us, our thoughts invariably turn to Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The spirit of giving and service is very much alive during this time of year and Campus Ministry is proud to sponsor three major service/giving programs in the months of November and December:

1. Thanksgiving Basket Drive: In conjunction with Saint Joe’s Junior High, our goal is to raise 400-500 baskets to benefit the food pantries of Blessed Sacrament and Transfiguration Parishes.  The baskets will be collected and delivered on November 21.  Additional information, as well as laundry baskets, will be provided to the students in the coming weeks.

2. Book Drive: In an effort to promote literacy, the Henry Wilson School (K-5) in Manchester has asked if we could partner with them to provide each of their students with a book for Christmas.  Both of our schools have about the same number of students and each of our grade levels will be assigned a corresponding grade level at the Wilson school.  The gift wrapped books will be due at Trinity on December 12.  After Christmas, our students are invited to go to the Henry Wilson School and read the books to the younger students.

3. 25 Days of Service: During the holy season of Advent, we will provide our community with daily service opportunities.  Each day from November 27-December 21, groups of 5-10 people from Trinity will perform service at various sites in the area.  I will post a calendar of opportunities in the coming weeks.

I am excited about these opportunities and hope and pray that all members of our school community - students, families, faculty, and staff - are able to take part.  I also pray that by taking part in these service opportunities, we may all be brought closer to God.
