2014 Thanksgiving Basket Drive

For many years now, we have sponsored a Thanksgiving Basket Drive to benefit the food pantries at Blessed Sacrament Parish and the Parish of the Transfiguration here in Manchester.  These two parishes do so much to help the poor in our city and we are always happy to help them help others have a dignified Thanksgiving meal.

I handed out laundry baskets to the school community today and I asked them to consider filling them up with the following items:
  • 2 cans of turkey gravy
  • 5 pound bag of potatoes
  • 2 bags of fresh carrots
  • 1 package of dinner rolls
  • 1 box of stuffing mix
  • 2 cans of cranberry sauce
  • 2 cans of green beans
  • 1 can of coffee
  • 2 cans of fruit cocktail
  • Assorted desserts
  • Anything else you may want to add
The baskets will be due on Monday, Nov. 24 and at the end of the day, we will caravan the baskets to the two parishes.  This is perhaps my favorite work of mercy project that we do and I am grateful to everyone who helps make it possible.
