The "official" feast of St. Benedict is July 11 but most Benedictines also mark today as the passing of St. Benedict. Trinity High School has a very special relationship with the Benedictines of Saint Anselm College and about 15 members of the faculty and staff are alums (including yours truly). St. Benedict is the patron saint of a happy death so this was our prayer this morning:
Lord our God, who filled the blessed Abbot Benedict with the Spirit of Christ and made him an outstanding teacher of the gospel, lead us on the way of your love. At the end of our earthly life, grant us through his prayers a happy death and receive us into your heavenly kingdom to rejoice with him in glory. Amen.
