We will be having a school-wide Mass on Monday. Each year on Martin Luther King Day we have a Mass of Peace and Justice followed by a brief presentation on human dignity. Last year Christine Duffley (P'11) spoke about her blind and autistic son Christopher who then sang some of his wonderful songs. The year before we heard from Mabor Gabriel '09 about being a refugee from Sudan and the year before that we heard from Greg Denis '11 who spoke of being adopted.
This year Charlie Sherman, the Executive Director of New Horizons, will speak about Sr. Angie Whidden, RSM. Sister Angie was a Manchester native and the founder of New Horizons. During her 68 years as a religious sister, she was very involved in education (including a stint teaching theology at Trinity High School) and social justice issues around the state. She also marched with Dr. King in Selma in 1965. Charlie will speak to the students about Sr. Angie as well as her legacy at New Horizons. The Mass will be at 9:30am and all are welcome to join us.
