This week marks the 3rd anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in our hemisphere and has had a hard time rebuilding. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians are still living in temporary (i.e. tents, campus) housing and there is little infrastructure to speak of.
The Lasallian Christian Brothers opened a school in Haiti this past fall thinking that education is the path to fixing that nation. The District of Eastern North America, which Trinity is considering affiliating with, is in discussions about taking on a role at the school and offering support.
Throughout this week, DENA is asking all schools to pray for the people of Haiti and to reflect on ways we can support the rebuilding. Our morning prayers this week are from DENA. Here is today's:
Lord Jesus, your presence among us gave witness to the Good News that the Kingdom of God is at hand. Your healing actions provided comfort and peace to those whom you touch and cured. Our Haitian brothers and sisters are in need of your healing presence. May Your love give them comfort and relief from their continued suffering. May our spirits be moved to prayer and action so that we may serve as a source of healing love to those in need of assistance as we give witness to God’s Kingdom present today. We pray this through Jesus our brother. Amen
