You may recall from Matthew's gospel that King Herod, in an effort to root out the baby Jesus, ordered the slaughter of all boys under the age of 2. In the Catholic Church, these victims are known as the Holy Innocents and we celebrate their feast each year on December 28.
In light of Friday's tragedy in Connecticut, we prayed this prayer for the Holy Innocents:
O God, whom the Holy Innocents confessed and proclaimed on this day, not by speaking but by dying, grant, we pray, that the faith in your which we confess with our lips may also speak through our manner of life.
