One of our priorities in Campus Ministry has been establishing a weekend retreat program. We decided to launch one this year using the Kairos program. Kairos is a retreat program that many, many Catholic high schools and colleges use, including Bishop Brady High School in Concord.
In order to start one, you first have to attend one to learn how it works. My alma mater, Boston College High School, graciously invited us to go on one of their Kairos retreats which is this week. Three students - Kasie Bourque '14, Allison Doherty '14, and Kira Duffy '13 - and I will be joining about 40 boys from BC High tomorrow through Saturday at the Craigville Retreat Center on Cape Cod. As you may know, BC High is an all boys school, and seeing girls at a BC High event is like seeing an endangered species! We are leaving tomorrow afternoon and will be back on Saturday.
I am so grateful that they are allowing us to take part (at no cost to our school or students). Ideally we will run our first Kairos retreat in March at Singing Hills in Plainfield. I took the ride up there yesterday to check them out and it is a great setting. It's on the Vermont border and is tucked away from the big box stores of neighboring Lebanon.
I am not sure I will have wi-fi at the retreat center this week but if we do I will try to post updates.
