Weekly Confessions

This October 11 marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council.  It also marks the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  To commemorate these two anniversaries and to find ways to build up the lives of our faith, Pope Benedict XVI has declared October 11, 2012-November 24, 2013 the Year of Faith.  It is an opportunity for folks to reconnect with their faith and/or to reenergize it.

Here at Trinity, we have a number of programs planned for the Year of Faith, one of which is weekly confessions.  Every Tuesday from 11am-12pm, a priest will be available in our chapel for students and faculty to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.  Today is our first day and our good friend Father Richard Dion is hearing confessions as I write this.  I told him that since this the first time we've ever done this (we usually just have a big confession service in Lent), I wasn't sure how many students would take part.  I am happy to say that right now there is a crowd of students outside the chapel waiting to go in!!!

Stay tuned...
