Back to Cor Unum

Tonight a group of us headed back to Cor Unum, a meal center in Lawrence, MA.  James Williams '13 and Athena Valkanos '14 as well as the aunt and grandmother of Kyle Sullivan '15 joined me and many  other volunteers serving dinner.  Kyle's relatives were on dessert duty while I was in charge of seating people.  James and Athena were in charge of some clean-up and organizing and they did it with smiles!

I was struck by a woman who came in with her husband and she was telling me how she had gone to Mass today (today is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary) and that God was going to take care of her.  She kept on talking about the goodness of God and how He always takes care of us.  Now this was a woman who was obviously down on her luck and who needed to be seated in a discrete area as she needed to take out her teeth in order to eat dinner.  But, she was so full of joy and faith.  At my brief time at Saint Francis Inn and Cor Unum, I have discovered how utterly faith filled so many poor and homeless are despite their lots in life.  They have nothing materially but they have complete faith in and love of God.

That is faith.
