Sorry I didn't blog about our first day last night but we didn't get back to our rooms until 10:30pm or so and I was pretty tired after a long day. I promise to write about it as there were some pretty powerful talks we heard and moments we experienced.
Today I am off to the Food Bank of Western New York in Buffalo with 10 students and Bro. Ed Hoffman, FSC of Lasalle University. The service groups are assigned by the moderator and you're never in a group with someone from your school. That way you get to meet other people and branch out. Bryan Dufour '14 happens to be in my group. He was very excited because Bro. Ed said folks at some sites aren't big on titles so the kids can call him by his nickname, Fritz, and call me Brian (although he kept referring to be off and on as Kevin, I get that a lot as that's my son's name but I don't think he knows that, I just must look like a Kevin).
So now we're off to breakfast, followed by morning prayer, and then to our service sites. I will post more when we return.
