Gearing up for the summer trips

Last night we had meetings for the two summer trips Campus Ministry is organizing this summer: the Lasallian Youth Assembly and Saint Francis Inn.

Mr. Sheehan '79 of our Math Department and Mrs. Peg Bourque, mother of Kasie '14, are taking the lead on the trip to Saint Francis Inn in Philadelphia which will be the last week of July.  This will be Trinity's 7th year going to the inn to serve the poorest of the poor in one of the worst neighborhoods in Philadelphia.  I have never been but I will go down for the second half of the week as Mr. Sheehan has to come back to Manchester for a prior committment.  We have eight wonderful students going who are willing to sacrifice a week of their summer vacation to live with no AC and no creature comforts in service to others.  I can't wait to go.

In mid-July, I am taking six students to the Lasallian Youth Assembly in Buffalo.  Mrs. Photiades, mother of Kiersten '12 and Kerra '14 is joining me as a chaperone.  We first went to the Lasallian Youth Assembly last year in Philadelphia (you can read about that trip herehere and here).  It is a week of faith, service, and community for Lasallian high school students from the East Coast.  As we are considering affiliating with the Lasallians again, they have invited us to join them for events such as this.  It should be an amazing, amazing time as usual.
