Senior Farewells

Tomorrow begins a series of events for the senior class.  The class will gather tomorrow morning at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Manchester for their Senior Farewell Retreat.  This is an opportunity for teachers (myself, Mr. Sheehan '76, Mrs. Brown, and Mr. Martinez) to share some words of wisdom with the senior class as they prepare to head into the world.  We will begin with a prayer service and then have the teachers present.  Following this, we have an "open mic" in which the seniors can get up and say some words to their classmates.  This is often an opportunity for students to apologize for some past hurt, to make amends, to share memories, or to just say thanks.  We conclude our morning with a very moving moment in the Church which I won't devluge as it's always a surprise for the kids. The day is then capped off with the prom in downtown Manchester that evening.

Next Thursday we will have our annual Senior Farewell Liturgy celebrated by Father John Fortin, OSB of Saint Anselm College.  At this Mass, the seniors receive a candle that has been decorated by a member of the school community.  Following Mass, we have a slideshow and then the presentations of the yearbooks.  Finally, on Friday June 1 the seniors are treated to a day at Canobie Lake Park in Salem.

Buckle up!
