We had to cancel Sunday's Freshman Welcome Liturgy because of Hurricane Irene. As such, the freshmen didn't have a chance to receive their Bibles. So today during their Theology classes, we had a brief ceremony at which we gathered to pray and to receive the Word of God.
We met in the Saint Basil Chapel and after a word of welcome and a prayer, we listed to a beautiful song by the Notre Dame Folk Choir on wisdom (you can listen to it here). The students then approached the altar, took their Bibles, and processed out.
It was very, very simple but hopefully an opportunity for the students to check out the chapel and to spend some time in quiet with the Lord.
